The Black Cab Sessions

RED
The Black Cab Sessions are a series of videos the Colossi approve greatly.
Each video features a different musician/band, who plays a song in the back of a Black Cab traveling down the road. Makes sense now don’t it? I love the live feel.. Things like this definitely bring to light someone who can truly play music. Good music is good music no matter where its performed. Not to mention that they have an uncanny habit of featuring my favorite bands.
Anywhoo, here are the best of the best..
Fleet Foxes
My Morning Jacket
Phosphorescent
Brian Wilson (Beach Boys..)
Daniel Johnston
Freddie Stevenson
The Felice Brothers
Hope you enjoyed and found some new music to get into on the way..
Be back soon with literally tons of reviews. This holiday has been good for my gaming.

The Flaming Lips – Embryonic

A loud, messy, album that harkens back to the “good ol’ days” of the Flaming Lips. An angry dirty “Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots”. Some truly great songs, often times peeking out from under complex layers of noise.. Obviously was a fun album to make. Creative and rarely stale throughout it’s entirety. On first listen, I mostly flipped through.. Upon multiple listens the album became more fulfilling. Noisy, complex, and enjoyable.
Best Tracks:
- Evil
- See the Leaves
- Powerless
- Silver Trembling Hands
- Watching the Planets (feat. Karen-O)
- I Can Be A Frog (feat. Karen-O)
(Video)
7.5/10

Neon Indian – Psychic Chasms

RED
Boppy synth-pop encased in a laid back summer vibe.. Reminds me of Bo Hansson’s trippy work at it’s best; an awkward party at its worst. Great driving music. Overall an interesting (or at least fun) first release that’s worth listening to.. At least if you’re into this whole “new new-wave” genre. I am.
Best Tracks:
- If I Knew I’d Tell You
- Mind, Drips
- Psychic Chasms
- Deadbeat Summer
(Unofficial Video)
7/10
