#1 – Earthbound

RED

The #1 Greatest SNES RPG of All Time:

Earthbound (1995)

Ah.. Earthbound… How I love you. I could rejoice in your humor, art style, music, character design, combat, story.. But it might just bring me to tears. Here’s something you don’t hear everyday: This is, without a doubt, my favorite video game of all time. Period. End of story. No game has touched me so thoroughly in a non-sexual way before or since.. And perhaps one never shall. I could write a ten piece article about the music alone (and maybe I will). Every town has the most peculiar yet enticing style; each complete with characters you will never forget. From the little creatures of Saturn Valley, to the creepily strange, zombie ravaged, wasteland of Threed; all the way onto the ride on the back of Nessie (yes indeed, the Loch Ness Monster herself makes an appearance).. Truly unforgettable and enjoyable from beginning to end. Did I mention I can play the entire soundtrack on piano? Like memorized? This is how much I love this game. Words cannot describe, and yet here I am attempting to describe. I realize not everyone may share my sentiments; there are surely those out there who would place Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana, hell even Illusion of Gaia about this. Not I, and I know I am not alone. Take a look into the online world of Earthbound (also known as Mother 2; Mother 3 -- “the sequel” was recently released in Japan on GBA..) and you may be shocked at what you find. Devout Earthbounders such as myself dwell amongst and all around you. We will find you, beat you with our Hero bat, and make you submit if you don’t bow to our opinion.. Nay, not opinion.

Earthbound IS the single greatest videogame ever made.

Beyond perfect.

You forgot the Dragon Warrior games. The third one should have at least made it to the top ten.

Dragon Warrior eh. Not my cup of tea although I know many disagree.
